ANDERSON, Susan Blalock, a resident of Montgomery, died on Friday, May 6, 2005. Funeral Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery on Sunday, May 8, at 3:00 p.m., with Dr. Karl Stegall officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James Anderson; a daughter, Anna Kathryn; and stepchildren, Jesse and Marjorie. She is also survived by her father, Lt. Col. Ret. Douglas Blalock of Auburn, and brothers, Bill (Cheryl) Blalock of Naperville, Illinois; Bob Blalock of Keaton Beach, Florida; and John (Patricia) Blalock of Auburn. Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Owen Blalock. She is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Susan was born on September 25, 1953, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1971. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1975, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and served as president of the University Panhellenic Council. Following completion of her undergraduate education, she attended the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, graduating first in her class in 1979. She served as editor of the Cumberland Law Review. Susan entered into the private practice of law in 1979 with the Birmingham firm of Sirote & Permutt. In 1994, after 15 years in private practice and establishing a reputation as a highly respected litigation attorney, Susan became Deputy Director and General Counsel of the Alabama Securities Commission, where she served until her untimely death. Susan was a loving and caring wife and mother who also had a passion for both the law and literature. She will be sorely missed by a multitude of friends and professional colleagues. Pallbearers will be her brothers, Bill, Bob, and John Blalock; her stepson, Jesse Anderson; and her nephews, Stephen and John Blalock. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Friendship Room of the First United Methodist Church.
